The Band

Steve Hester
was born to sing the Blues. At age 8, Steve began singing Southern gospel in a small church in Corning, Arkansas and by age 11 was learning trumpet and bass guitar. Always in the background though was a burning desire to be a singer/front man. Inspired by the likes of Elvis, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams and Tom Jones very early, then later by Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Allman Brothers, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, Bob Seger, ZZ Topp, The Stones, Aerosmith, Robin Trower, Molly Hatchet, Hank Jr., 38 Special, Charlie Daniels, John Lee Hooker, Foghat, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, Van Morrison and of course Johnny Winter and Lynyrd Skynyrd, who he was fortunate enough to support in 2013.  A more recent group that Steve is inspired by is The Black Keys.

Steve began performing for hire at 16 and took it on the road at 21.  He even tried to lay it down twice and settle for other interests but the music was always there. Any time he saw a band or went to a show the fire inside was re-kindled! Now he’s back with an awesome band DeJaVooDoo comprised of long time friend from his hometown Chip Goodwin on Keys and guitar, longtime friend Gerald Curtis on drums, “Little Brother” from another mother Zach Hawkins on lead guitar and helping hold it together Road/Stage manager and Engineer Brian Knight! Steve joins the rhythm section on bass and handles the lead vocals and occasional harp work. His raspy vocals are soulful and have been compared to artists ranging from B.B. King to Bob Segar and even Van Morrison.

Zach Hawkins was born in the Deep South in El Dorado, Arkansas. He has spent most of his young life in Little Rock, Arkansas. Zach has always wanted to play the guitar. Some of his influences are: Philip Sayce, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Tyler Bryant, Joe Bonamassa, and Carlos Santana. Although only 21 years of age Zach is well accomplished at the guitar and has known for a long time that he had a future in the music industry. He currently plays lead guitar and sings backup in Steve Hester and DeJaVooDoo and helps collaborate the song arrangements with Steve. He brings the energy and wistfulness of youth to the band. Look for Zach to some day be compared to the likes of Hendrix, SRV and other great guitarists!

Chip Goodwin was born in Texarkana, AR and raised in the delta of northeast Arkansas, which had a profound impact on his musical taste. He has toured extensively throughout the US & Canada with a variety of bands as a professional musician.
Chip’s musical influences include: Muddy Waters, BB King, Eric Clapton. Duane & Gregg Allman, Booker T, Dr. John , Lynyrd Skynyrd and as of late Tyler Bryant to name a few. He is now playing slide guitar, keyboards and singing backup in Steve Hester and DeJaVooDoo, founded by his longtime friend and musical cohort Steve Hester.
